From 64 songs down to 2, we can now finally determine The Greatest Driving Song.............................................. In The World. Yes, it has been a long and arduous journey, many have grown angry, a few have been murdered until dead, insults have been thrown, people have become confused, long winded and nonsensical ranting has been typed out on this topic, the bowl of pudding fell of the giraffe's lap, and yet you just keep reading this not at all grammatically correct sentence as it runs on and on, like the song that never ends, it goes on and on my friends, at this point there is probably only one poor sap that is still reading, I would like to take a moment to talk directly to this aforementioned sap, "my dear poor sap, why are you still reading this and not voting like everybody else? I mean they just glossed over this and voted, or they just started to read and said, 'nah, fuck this shit,' and went back to reading Plays With Cars by Doug DeMuro. Did you know that Doug DeMuro wrote that book? Because he wrote that book."

Damn, both songs are great for diving, I'm having a hard time choosing... Black Betty is an old favorite, though, and I've had it on my driving list since 2004, nevermind that I only got my license in 2008.

I'm just disappointed it didn't come down to Amoeba and The Distance. I mean, I do like these both quite a bit, but those are some of my favorite driving songs of all time.

However, "We Didn't Start The Fire" remains my driving song of choice. I had heard it a lot before, of course, but for some reason when I listened to it one day in 11th grade US History, it just became my thing. Now, regardless of weather or location, if it comes on the radio, I double the volume and roll down every window. No exceptions.

These two are very solid though, I'm going Black Betty. I really like the beginning, I can picture this song used with a nice build-up as a garage door slowly opens, lights flicker on, a black GT500 sitting in the garage. Then thedriver....I mean the driver takes off for some hoonage. Awesome.

This is almost impossible!!!
Radar love is perfect for a night blast up a deserted highway with no cars around to slow you down. Exceeding the speed limit, taking those turns fast but without pressure, keeping the clutching smooth, and the shifts slow.
Black Betty is perfect for a tighter, more technical roads that require a lot of snappy shifts, and some good clutchwork from the driver. A harder song to drive to, but you would be driving harder as well.

Gotta hand it to the Jalop taste in music. Radar Love and Black Betty are the two best driving songs!

Had to go with Radar Love, because I hadn't heard Black Betty since the 70s or whenever it was first played, though it is a great driving song. However, I often played Radar Love in my head or shouted the words into the the wind (I don't really sing) when riding my bicycle down a mountain pass in my Colorado days. So, even if Radar Love doesn't win Greatest Driving song, I feel certain it is the Best Bicycle Riding Song, at least when riding a bicycle over 50 mph (Suggested new Gawker Title: Bicycleriderlopnik. Maybe not.)
